Congratulations to Mrs. Tisha Brown USD 286 Teacher of the Year! A well deserved honor for a great teacher! Mrs. Brown has taught at USD 286 for many years. The Sports/Cheer/Music Banquet will be held on Saturday, April 30 . The following classes are asked to bring these covered dishes; Desserts: Freshmen, Juniors and 8th graders, Side Dish: Seniors, Sophomores, 6th and 7th graders. The dinner will be at 6:00 , with student recognition beginning about 6:30 . The Banquet will be held in the old gym. Spring Break Reflections and State Basketball Spring Break provides school students and staff with a much-needed break from the daily demands of school and allows the opportunity to rest, relax and spend quality time with friends and family. At the March BOE Meeting, the USD 286 BOE voted to call off school for both Thursday, March 10 th and Friday, March 11 th. ; allowing students, staff and their families to attend the state basketball tournament in Manhattan, making this years Spring Break even longer than usual. At the February BOE meeting, the USD 286 Board of Education approved moving Drivers Education from the school year to the summer. This schedule change will be effective this summer, 2016. The top priority of USD 286 is the education provided to our students. By offering drivers education during the school year, we are sacrificing a course offering. Our large 8th grade class would have required the use of two class periods to continue teaching Drivers Ed. during the school year. We feel that our students would benefit much more from additional course offerings and educational . . .
Sedan High School was honored to host 2002 SHS graduate and Blue Angel pilot, Andy Talbott on Monday, December 7 for a motivational speech for students and the community. Andy and part of the Blue Angel crew spoke to the 6th - 12th grade students about motivation and goal setting. Many community members attended the event.
