Sedan Community Service
Sedan Students Give Back
On Friday, April 22, Sedan students celebrated Earth Day with community service projects. The day was kicked off with a school wide assembly. The pep band played. The Re-Imagine Sedan students told the students about their project and the importance of giving back to the community. In addition, they showed a video on Sedan that they made for their peers in Sedan, France.
The Community Service Day was organized by the 12 students who participate in the Re-Imagine Sedan seminar class. Each student led one class throughout the day. Activities around the school included picking up trash, putting the tire chips back in the playground, raking, weeding, planting flowers donated by Sedan Floral, cleaning the elementary classrooms and the old gym locker rooms, organizing the library shelves and making cookies for lunch.
Around town students cleaned up outside the Art Center, at the Rodeo, school ball fields, the town lakes, the pool and at the park. They also weeded the downtown street sidewalks and swept them clean.
The school treated the students to a picnic lunch of hot dogs, chips, and homemade cookies. Later in the day when the work was finished they got to watch a movie and have popcorn.
